Stuart Hay Photography is based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Established in 1986, it has since built up an enviable reputation in Shropshire as being one of the most renowned, trusted and leading professional photography studios in the county. With a wealth of experience, gained over many years working in different disciplines, we can help and advise you in all aspects of professional photography.
About Stuart
Stuart Hay LBIPP, is a qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP). Founded in 1901, BIPP is the oldest established professional institute for professional full-time photographers in the UK.
Stuart’s passion for photography started at 10 years old, where he taught himself the technical aspects of photography. Stuart continued to develop his interest through his teenage years, including the starting of the photographic society at New College, Telford. During this time, Stuart covered sporting and social events and also produced photographs and slideshows which were used as educational material in lectures as well as for PR purposes. This led to him being awarded the Harry Parr Memorial Trophy, which was given to the student who had made the most outstanding contribution to the college during their time there.
After completing his A-levels, Stuart attended the BBC’s college in Wood Norton where he trained as a sound engineer in radio. After qualifying, Stuart worked for the BBC in London for 9 years as a Group 2 (music) studio manager in national radio, where he primarily worked on live and pre-recorded Radio 1 and Radio 2 programmes. Through attachments, Stuart also gained experience in working as a sound engineer in BBC television. During his time at the BBC and as a side-line, Stuart was often asked to do PR photography assignments for various nationally known DJ’s and celebrities. It was whilst he was at the BBC that Stuart established his current business, which continues to be successful to this day.
Stuart is married to Sue and has 2 daughters, Emily and Melissa.
